The Hottest New Restaurants Opening in San Diego Right Now

San Diego’s dining scene is on fire in 2026, with more than 80 restaurant openings tracked so far this year. Whether you’re chasing a reservation at a destination fine-dining spot or hunting for the best new neighborhood taco joint, here’s what’s got everyone talking.

Fleurette — UTC / La Jolla

Chef Travis Swikard — the James Beard-nominated talent behind the now-closed Callie — is back with Fleurette, a stunning 6,000-square-foot Côte d’Azur-inspired restaurant at La Jolla Commons. Think Provençal seafood, olive-oil-based sauces, handmade pastas, and a wine program boasting over 3,000 bottles. This is the toughest reservation in town right now, and for good reason.

À L’ouest — North Park

The Trust Restaurant Group (the crew behind Trust, Fort Oak, and Cardellino) goes big with this 200-seat French brasserie on 30th Street. The name means “to the west” in French, and the menu leans into classic brasserie fare with California produce — steak frites, duck confit, and a raw bar. The wraparound patio seats 80, and the cocktail program features 30+ original drinks. Late-night menu available until midnight on weekends.

JOEY — Westfield UTC

Vancouver-based JOEY Restaurant Group makes its San Diego debut at Westfield UTC with a globally inspired menu spanning sushi, steaks, pasta, and craft cocktails. The brand is known for its sleek, high-energy dining rooms and consistent quality. This marks their continued push into the California market after successful Los Angeles locations.

Also on Our Radar

  • Pastaria Vivi — Fresh pasta shop and restaurant in Little Italy
  • Sono — Wood-fired pizza and handmade pasta concept from a local restaurateur
  • Tijuanazo — Authentic Tijuana-style street tacos, aiming to bring cross-border flavors north

We’ll be updating this list throughout the year as more openings are confirmed. Got a tip about a new restaurant? Let us know.
